Account Recovery

Misto has no email reset, so nobody can take over an account by getting into an inbox. Here is what to do instead.

  1. Lost Your Phone or Authenticator App

Sign in with your password as usual. When Misto asks for the 6-digit code, enter one of your recovery codes instead. Each code works once.

Then open Account and choose Regenerate Recovery Codes, so you have a fresh set. To move two-step verification to a new phone, ask the household owner for a recovery link (below).

  2. Forgot Your Password, or Have No Recovery Codes

Ask the household owner. They run node cli.js recover <username> in the Misto container (Komodo terminal or SSH). It signs you out everywhere and gives a one-time link, valid for 24 hours, that sets a new password and two-step verification. You get new recovery codes at the end.

  3. You Are the Owner

Run the same command for your own username on the server. Only someone with access to the server can do this.

  4. Too Many Attempts

After too many wrong tries, sign-in pauses for 15 minutes. Wait, then try again.
