What Misto is, what it is not, and exactly what this website keeps.
What Misto Is
Misto is a media player and library app for Android TV, plus this website: a private sync service that one household runs for its own TVs. It is an independent project by mlp2069, based on Nuvio TV, and is not the official Nuvio app.
What Misto Is Not
Misto does not supply, license or include any catalog of movies, shows or other media, and this server never hosts or streams media. The app plays what you connect to it: your own media servers, accounts, addons and other sources. You are responsible for having permission to watch what you play.
Misto is not affiliated with or endorsed by any addon, media server, catalog, streaming service or content owner, unless it says so. Names and logos of third-party services belong to their owners.
What This Server Keeps
- Your account: a username, and, if you set one, a password (stored only as a hash) and two-step verification. If you sign in with Nuvio: the id Nuvio gives your account, a shortened email (like
ab…@gmail.com) and a username made from the part of your email before the @, to recognize you next time. - Your household and TVs: who belongs to it, each TV's name, model, app version and when it last checked in, and the settings each TV reports so you can change them here.
- What your TVs sync: each profile's library, watch history and progress, shared TV settings, Live TV setup, and the sign-ins and keys a TV chooses to keep here. These records, and their earlier versions, are encrypted on the server.
- Backups: each TV's daily profile backups, encrypted. They leave out API keys and sign-ins, but include each profile's addon list, and an addon's address can carry its key.
- Changes sent to TVs and their results (a settings change keeps the value it replaced, for Undo). An addon address you add here is kept encrypted until the TV takes it; then only its host stays.
- Titles and posters: public details of titles in your library, looked up from Cinemeta and kept to show the pages faster.
- Nuvio's list of your sign-ins (device names, app versions, last activity), when you or a TV signs in with Nuvio, for Registered Devices.
- An activity log (sign-ins, TVs added or removed, settings changed), which the household's members can see.
- Nightly copies of all of the above, kept for two weeks (the default) so the server can be restored.
What It Never Keeps
Your Nuvio password (Sign in with Nuvio happens on nuvio.tv), your Nuvio session (it is used once and dropped), and any media. Nothing is sold, shared or used for advertising. The household's owner runs this server and can see everything above for their household; other households on the same server can't.
Services Misto Talks To
nuvio.tv (Sign in with Nuvio, and importing your Nuvio profiles and history when you ask), Cinemeta (title details for this website), and GitHub (where app updates are published). In the app: TMDB, Trakt, Simkl, MDBList, IntroDB and the other services listed under Licenses & Attribution, only when you use them.
Removing Data
Remove a TV under Registered Devices and it stops syncing at once. Unlink your Nuvio account under Account. To delete your account or the whole household, ask the household owner: they run this server.
No Warranty
Misto is provided as is, without warranty of any kind, as the GNU GPLv3 sets out.
